Miranda Hamilton, founder of Misty Meadow Ragdoll Cattery

Our Founder

A home cattery

My name is Miranda Hamilton. I founded Misty Meadow Ragdoll Cattery because I wanted families to bring home more than a pretty face — I wanted them to bring home a healthy, people-oriented companion who was raised in a real home, with daily handling, affection, and honest care.

I am a TICA-registered Ragdoll breeder, and Misty Meadow is a TICA & CFA registered cattery. Registration matters because it supports responsible breeding records, pedigree documentation, and standards families should be able to verify.

Ragdolls are known for their gentle temperaments, striking blue eyes, and that famously relaxed, “flop-in-your-arms” nature. Those qualities do not happen by accident. They come from choosing breeding cats for health and temperament, raising kittens underfoot, and matching each kitten to a home where they can thrive.

This is a small, home-based program. Kittens grow up as part of the household — they hear voices, meet people, learn a litter box, and get used to being held long before go-home day. If you are considering a Misty Meadow kitten, I would rather you know exactly how we raise them, what they go home with, and how we stay available afterward.

Our Story

How Ragdolls became the heart of Misty Meadow

I did not set out to start a cattery on a whim. I fell in love with the Ragdoll breed first — their quiet confidence, those blue eyes, and the way they lean into a family as if they have always belonged there. Once that love took hold, it did not fade. It became the reason Misty Meadow exists.

From the first Ragdolls we met, we were captured by their gentle nature and striking looks. That affection is still what drives every choice here: which cats we keep, how kittens are raised, and the homes we trust them to.

Misty Meadow is a boutique, home-based program. We raise only a limited number of litters each year so that quality stays ahead of quantity. Families will not find a warehouse of kittens here — they will find a small number of well-loved companions, each one raised as part of our household.

How We Raise Them

Care, training, and support that last

Our work is not only about producing beautiful Ragdolls. It is about giving each kitten a strong start — and staying beside the family after they go home.

Care from the first days

Kittens grow up in a calm, loving home. We watch their food, living space, and veterinary care with the same care we give our adult cats — quality nutrition and proper medical attention, not shortcuts.

Positive, patient training

We use encouragement, not fear. Play, handling, and a safe, interesting home help kittens learn confidence. That is how they grow into steady, affectionate companions instead of nervous pets.

Still here after adoption

Finding the right family matters as much as raising the kitten. We help with the match, then stay available so the first weeks — and the years after — feel supported, not like a goodbye.

Ethical Breeding

A small program, built around the cats

We think of Misty Meadow as a boutique breeder in the true sense: fewer litters, more attention. Limiting how often our queens produce is how we protect their health and keep every kitten from becoming just another number.

Our queens are not pushed. Breeding cycles stay conservative so the females remain well, and so each kitten can have the time, handling, and individual love they deserve. Quality of life for the cats comes before the size of a waiting list.

Every kitten is raised cage-free, inside our home, as a member of the family. They receive daily affection, play, and socialization. The goal is simple: a healthy start, a kind temperament, and a companion who is ready for a lifelong home.

That standard does not change when a kitten leaves. We invite you to look through our pages, meet the cats behind our litters, and — if the match feels right — join the families who have made a Misty Meadow Ragdoll Cattery part of their story.

Our Philosophy

What responsible breeding means here

Health, temperament, and quality sit at the center of every decision. We select breeding cats with attention to pedigree, structure, health testing, and the gentle Ragdoll nature families love. A beautiful coat is not enough if the cat is not sound, social, and well cared for.

We keep the program small enough that kittens are raised as companions, not as inventory. That is how a kitten walks into a new family already knowing how to be held, how to use a litter box, and how to live around people.

We also believe in staying available after adoption. Questions about diet, litter, behavior, or settling in are part of the relationship — not a closed chapter once the kitten leaves.

Health first

Breeding cats are screened before they produce litters. Kittens leave with veterinary records and a written genetic health guarantee.

Gentle temperament

Daily handling, play, and family socialization help kittens grow into confident, affectionate companions.

Home raised

Clean, comfortable home care — surrounded by human interaction, not isolated from everyday life.

From Birth to Go-Home

How our kittens are raised

Kittens typically leave Misty Meadow at 12–14 weeks, after vaccinations, deworming, a veterinary health check, and thorough socialization. They do not leave until the purchase price is paid in full and required documents are signed.

  1. Weeks 1–4

    With mom, in the home

Kittens stay with their mother in a clean, quiet space inside the house. Early handling begins so they learn human scent, gentle touch, and calm voices.

  2. Weeks 5–8

    Play, litter, and curiosity

They explore, use a litter box, and get used to household sounds. We watch growth, appetite, and personality so we can talk honestly with families about each kitten.

  3. Weeks 9–12

    Health care and people time

Age-appropriate FVRCP vaccines and deworming continue on schedule. Daily play and handling prepare them for a new home, not a sudden change of world.

  4. Weeks 12–14

    Vet exam and go-home

A licensed veterinarian examines the kitten. Families receive records, feeding guidance, and transition notes so the first days in a new house feel familiar.

Our Cats

The adults behind the litters

Meet Isabella (queen, seal point) and Sebastian (stud, bicolor) on our homepage. They are part of a health-first program: adult cats receive routine veterinary exams and genetic health testing before they produce litters.

A beautiful Ragdoll is still a working animal in a breeding program. We watch temperament as closely as type — because the kitten who goes home with you should be as easy to live with as they are striking to look at.

Health-Tested Ragdolls

What we screen — and what goes home with you

Responsible breeding begins with informed choices. Our breeding cats are tested before they produce litters so we can reduce known hereditary risk and send kittens home with a clear medical start.

Our breeding cats are tested for:

  • 40+ genetic health conditions (including HCM & PKD)
  • Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV)
  • Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
  • Blood type
  • Traits
  • Genetic diversity

Each kitten comes with:

  • 1-year genetic health guarantee
  • Spay / neuter
  • Age-appropriate FVRCP vaccines + dewormings
  • Microchip
  • Full physical examination by a licensed veterinarian
  • Records, care guidance, and continued support

Kittens are monitored closely as they grow. Two licensed veterinarians evaluate overall condition, growth, and readiness for placement — one focused on wellness and preventative care, the other on exams, aftercare, and go-home clearance. If a concern arises at any stage, we pause and address it. No placement is more important than a kitten’s wellbeing.

We are happy to walk through health results during the adoption process so you feel confident about the companion joining your home. Full protocols live on Health & Care.

Temperament

Socialization in a real home

A healthy Ragdoll is more than a clean bill of health. They also need a calm, confident start in life — the kind that comes from living with people, not from being kept apart until pickup day.

  • Daily human interaction to build trust and affection
  • Litter training begun in our home
  • Exposure to normal household sights and sounds
  • Early habits that support the classic Ragdoll gentle temperament
  • Quality nutrition for steady growth, coat, and digestion
  • Support as you introduce your kitten to children and other pets

Working With Us

Two paths to a Misty Meadow kitten

You do not have to guess where to start. If a kitten is available today, you can apply and reserve. If you are planning for a future litter, join the waitlist.

Available Now

Reserve a kitten — $800

After your application is approved, a $800 reservation fee holds a specific available kitten and is credited toward the $1,200. The remaining balance is typically $400, due on the schedule confirmed before go-home. The reservation fee is refundable if you withdraw before the kitten is transferred.

Future Litters

Join the waitlist — $500

A waitlist place is $500 — that is all required to join, and it counts toward the $1,200. A place does not guarantee a specific color, sex, or litter. The fee is refundable if you withdraw before a kitten is reserved or matched for you.

Go-Home Day

Pickup, meet-up, or shipping

Families may receive their kitten by local meet-up, airport pickup, airline shipping, professional flight nanny, or specialized ground service. Safety and a low-stress journey always come first.

We offer shipping to all states within the USA, as well as Asia and Europe. Shipping charges vary by destination. Airline shipping typically ranges from $150 to $200, depending on the destination and the airline’s rules.

Before travel, the kitten is prepared with age-appropriate care, records, and a crate suited for the journey. After you register for delivery, you receive tracking and the details you need to receive your kitten.

For Families

How we match kittens to homes

A Misty Meadow Ragdoll Cattery is not a purchase to rush. We match each kitten to a household where they can be held, included, and cared for as a family member — not placed with the first person who asks.

While kittens are still with us, we watch personality as closely as health: who is bold, who is extra cuddly, who settles easily into laps. That is the information we use when we talk with families — so the kitten who goes home is a good fit, not just an available one.

Applications are reviewed for the kitten’s wellbeing before a family is accepted. Submitting an application does not guarantee a kitten. Approval — and, for an available kitten, a paid reservation — is required before a kitten is held for you. Applicants must be 18 or older, and we ask that everyone in the home agrees to the kitten.

Color, sex, and pattern are preferences. We will be honest if a personality match or timing is a better path than the kitten you first had in mind. Families who are willing to wait for the right companion usually have the smoothest placements.

What we learn about your home

The application is how we understand the life a kitten would walk into. These are the same areas we ask about on the reservation and waitlist forms.

Household

Adults in the home, children and their ages, whether everyone agrees, and other pets — species, age, and sex. We use this to think through introductions and whether a kitten’s temperament fits the pace of your house.

The home itself

Own or rent, whether cats are permitted if you rent, indoor-only living, and typical hours the kitten would be alone. Ragdolls do best as indoor companions with people they can attach to.

Experience

Whether you have owned cats or a Ragdoll before, why you want this breed, and why Misty Meadow. First-time cat families are welcome — we would rather know that up front so we can support you well.

Lifelong care

A veterinarian (or plans to establish one), readiness for routine and emergency vet costs, what you plan to feed, and a willingness to follow our care recommendations and provide a safe indoor home.

How a match actually happens

1

You tell us about your home

Start with Available Kittens if you see a kitten now, or the waitlist for a future litter. The application covers contact details, location, household, home, experience, care plans, and kitten preference (including pet, breeding, or show, and pickup versus delivery).

2

We review for a responsible placement

We read applications carefully. A match considers the kitten’s temperament and health, your household, and timing. If we need clarification, we will reach out. We typically respond within 1–2 business days.

3

We confirm next steps together

For an available kitten, approval is followed by the $800 reservation. On the waitlist, we keep you updated as litters are planned and grow, then guide you through reservation and go-home when a match is offered. Preferences are preferences — not a promise of a specific color or date.

We value the families we work with. Send a note through our contact form, or follow @whisperingpinesragdoll on TikTok anytime.
